About the Role
A lovely family based in Wedmore, Somerset, is seeking a warm, enthusiastic and engaging full-time Nanny to care for their one-year-old child, starting in early January 2027.
The family is looking for someone who genuinely loves working with young children and understands the importance of supporting their early development through play, conversation, exploration and everyday learning. The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive and proactive, creating a stimulating and nurturing environment where the child can grow in confidence and reach important developmental milestones.
The family would particularly welcome a Greek-speaking Nanny, as their child is learning both English and Greek. Speaking Greek would be a significant advantage, although it is not essential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Providing attentive, nurturing and sole-charge childcare throughout the day.
Supporting the child's development through age-appropriate play, activities, reading, singing and conversation.
Encouraging language development in both English and Greek, where possible.
Planning engaging activities, outings and opportunities to explore the local area.
Supporting the child's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.
Assisting with mealtimes and encouraging positive eating habits with patience and understanding.
Recognising that the child can take time to eat and allowing mealtimes to progress at their own pace, without rushing.
Following the family's preferred parenting approach and maintaining consistent routines.
Supporting future developmental milestones, including potty training when the child is ready.
Keeping the child's play areas tidy and ensuring their belongings and activities are well organised.
Being mindful and respectful of the grandparents, who are also at home.
Working considerately around a parent who partially works from home.
Being comfortable around the family's small, friendly dog.
The Ideal Candidate
The family is looking for a Nanny who is:
Warm, caring, patient and genuinely enthusiastic about childcare.
Experienced in caring for babies and toddlers, ideally around one year of age.
Confident in supporting early childhood development and language acquisition.
Happy to get out and about, plan activities and provide plenty of interaction and stimulation.
Patient and understanding around food and mealtimes.
Flexible and respectful of the family's parenting style and household dynamics.
Reliable, proactive and committed to building a long-term relationship with the family.
Comfortable working in a household where grandparents and a parent working from home may be present.
A confident driver with access to transport suitable for the rural location.
Essential Requirements
Paediatric First Aid certificate.
Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.
Recent, checkable childcare references.
