A professional family based in NW1 is urgently seeking a highly experienced, deeply nurturing Maternity Nurse / Specialist to care for their 7-premature baby girl. The parents run a business together, and while Mum is partially on maternity leave, she needs to balance work meetings and the routine of their 6-year-old daughter.
This role requires a specialist who can provide a mother-like level of care, constant vigilance, and genuine devotion to a baby who has had a complex medical start to life.
The baby was born 2 months early and spent her first 8 weeks in the hospital (Intensive Care).
- *Vigilance Required:* She occasionally turns pale. While doctors have no major current concerns and her blood sugar is stable, the nurse must be extremely observant, constantly monitor her color and tummy, and know exactly what to do in an emergency.
- *Gastro & Allergies:* She has severe allergies to cow’s milk, soya, and gluten, and suffers from painful gas. She is mixed-fed using a special formula.
- *Strict Routine:* Her digestion has improved recently due to a very strict feeding schedule. She must be fed every 3 hours on the dot. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail and punctuality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide round-the-clock-level awareness during your day and night shifts, ensuring the baby's medical, physical, and emotional needs are meticulously met.
- Administer strict, punctual feedings (every 3 hours) and manage her specialized formula and gastro sensitivities.
- Comfort and soothe the baby, providing the abundant cuddles and physical reassurance her nervous system requires right now.
- Monitor her breathing, skin color, and overall presentation, acting decisively and calmly should any medical concerns arise.
Support the mother (who is recovering from a C-section and balancing work/older child) by taking complete, trustworthy charge of the infant.
Candidate Requirements:
- Premature Expertise: Extensive, proven experience working with premature babies.
- Vigilant & Knowledgeable: Must be highly trained in pediatric first aid, capable of spotting subtle changes in the baby's condition, and confident in handling health concerns.
- Nurturing Nature: Must be willing to be as loving, hands-on, and devoted as a parent. This is not a "put the baby down and step back" role; she needs to be held and comforted.
- Organized & Punctual: Absolute precision with feeding times and routine management.
