AH257: Job Description: Rota Support / Retainer Nanny, Knightsbridge

Location: Knightsbridge, London

Arrangement: Rota support / retainer cover for annual leave and sickness

Start Date: ASAP

Children: Three children, currently aged 11, 9 and 6

Salary: £70,000 gross per annum, increasing to £75,000 following successful completion of probation

Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom in the family home or nanny apartment

The Role

An excellent opportunity for an experienced, adaptable Nanny to join a well-established childcare team in a busy private household in Knightsbridge. Working as one of three Rota Support / Retainer Nannies, you will provide cover for the family's rota nannies during periods of annual leave and sickness. The role offers variety and calls for someone who enjoys working with children at different developmental stages, adapting to changing routines and contributing to a collaborative team.

When on duty, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the children's day-to-day care, working independently as well as alongside the wider childcare team. You will build positive relationships with each child, provide engaging, age-appropriate care and help maintain the routines and consistency that support their wellbeing. Experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing attentive, warm and age-appropriate care for all three children while on duty.
- Adapting your approach to each child's individual needs, with a calm, patient and understanding manner.
- Maintaining the children's routines and providing continuity of care when covering for members of the rota team.
- Planning and preparing for evenings, weekends and school holidays, including childcare-related administration during school hours and quieter periods.
- Working confidently on your own initiative while communicating and collaborating with the rota nannies and other household staff.
- Travelling with the family within Europe and internationally during school holidays when required.
- Keeping the children's care and environment organised; the role has no general housekeeping responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements

- Substantial professional nanny experience, including caring for children of similar ages.
- Proven experience supporting children with ASC and ADHD.
- Previous experience working in a high-net-worth (HNW) private household.
- A calm, patient, warm and engaging approach, with confidence responding to individual needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability, and comfort working to a changing schedule.
- Excellent organisation, forward planning, communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive, resourceful approach and the ability to use your own initiative.
- Professionalism, discretion and a mature, considered manner.
- Confidence around dogs; the family has three.
- Willingness to travel with the family during school holidays.

Previous rota or retainer experience would be an advantage, but candidates with a strong private-household background and the flexibility to adapt to this style of work are also encouraged to apply. A driving licence is not required.

This is a fully staffed household, and the role is focused on the children.
