Rota Nanny/Governess – Singapore

An excellent opportunity for a highly educated, graduate Nanny/Governess with a teaching background to join a New Zealand family with G7 who are based in one of Singapore's most prestigious and leafy residential districts, renowned for its beautiful surroundings, excellent schools and established international community.

The mother, a medical professional whose career involves extensive international travel, seeks a highly reliable, experienced and professional Governess to care for her delightful 7 year old daughter. The appointment operates on a two weeks on, two weeks off rota, complementing the mother's own working schedule and involves both sole and shared care.

The little girl is a happy, confident, talkative and well-rounded child with lovely manners and a wide range of interests. She is particularly sporty, enjoying gymnastics, dancing, skiing and outdoor pursuits, whilst also having a creative side and a love of music, painting and drawing.
The Governess will be responsible for the morning routine from approximately 6am, preparing her charge for school and ensuring she is ready for collection by the school coach at 8am. She returns home at approximately 4pm, when the Governess will oversee homework, accompany her to after-school activities, encourage her educational and creative interests and manage the evening routine until bedtime at approximately 7.30–8pm. The Governess will have free time during school hours.

This is an informal household with a live-in Housekeeper employed, therefore responsibilities are limited to nursery duties and all aspects of the child's care, education and development.

The mother is particularly interested in meeting a highly educated, graduate Governess with a teaching background who can support her daughter's academic progress, encourage independence and foster a genuine love of learning. The successful candidate will be mature, discreet, well organised and confident working within a conservative and structured environment, respecting the family's values and routines whilst demonstrating an understanding of Singapore's local customs, laws and expectations.

A warm, positive and engaging personality is essential, together with excellent organisational skills, reliability and a genuine enthusiasm for sports, outdoor pursuits and creative activities. The Governess should be a positive role model who encourages excellent manners, kindness and consideration for others whilst maintaining firm but gentle boundaries.

The family anticipate remaining in Singapore for a minimum of two years with the possibility of a longer stay. They maintain a substantial home in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a menagerie that includes horses.

The appointment will involve accompanying the family on visits there, making this particularly appealing to a Governess with a love of animals and outdoor pursuits. In Singapore, the family have a sweet-natured, small dog who is cared for by the housekeeper.

Fluent English and driving are essential. A private bedroom and bathroom are provided within the family home.
