A lovely family in Surrey is looking for an experienced, professional nanny to care for their child.
This is a position initially based at the family's home in Caterham before they relocate to Weybridge in March 2027. The family is looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about childcare, confident working within a busy private household and able to take responsibility for all aspects of their daughter's day.
She is due to start nursery in September 2027, so initially the role will be contracted until then.

The child is at an important stage of development and the nanny will play an important role in supporting her as she becomes increasingly mobile and independent. She is walking and climbing, so excellent awareness of child safety is essential. She also has eczema, and the nanny should be confident following her established care and dietary routines.

The family places a strong emphasis on early development and would like a nanny who naturally incorporates talking, reading, play and age-appropriate activities into the day. Someone with formal childcare qualifications and experience of early education would be particularly well suited to the role.

The successful candidate will be professional, proactive and confident, with experience working in private or high-profile households. This is a busy home with other household staff, so the nanny must be comfortable working as part of a team, understand the discretion expected within a private household and be able to get on with things without needing constant direction.

The afternoon nap provides around 2.5 hours of downtime, and the family would appreciate a nanny who uses this time proactively to keep the child's areas tidy, organise activities and generally help keep things running smoothly, rather than simply waiting for the child to wake (this nap time would include a 1 hour lunch-break).

The parents have a clear but gentle parenting approach and are looking for someone who is happy to follow their lead and receptive to feedback. Communication is important, as is being able to understand and respect the family's preferences while bringing your own professional experience and judgement to the role.

The family has a much-loved dog, so confidence around dogs is important. Italian language skills would be a bonus, although this is not essential.

The ideal candidate

• Experienced nanny with a strong background in private or high-profile households
• Professional, polished and comfortable working alongside other household staff
• Qualified and/or formally trained in childcare, with a good understanding of early childhood development
• Experienced with toddlers and confident supporting their development through play, reading, conversation and age-appropriate activities
• Exceptionally safety-conscious, particularly now that the child is walking and climbing
• Organised, proactive and naturally tidy
• Comfortable taking initiative during the child's nap and keeping the nursery and child's areas organised
• Warm and nurturing, while able to maintain appropriate boundaries
• Receptive to parental guidance and able to adapt to the family's parenting style
• Discreet, reliable and emotionally intelligent
• Comfortable around dogs
• Italian speaking would be a bonus
• Happy to work from Caterham initially and relocate to Weybridge with the family in March 2027
• Flexible for extra hours and babysitting

This would suit a nanny who enjoys being part of a professional household and takes pride in providing a high standard of care.
