Nanny
Live-In Nanny – Virginia Water, Surrey (Private guesthouse living)
We are a warm, active family in Virginia Water looking for an energetic, caring and experienced nanny to join our family and help care for our two children, aged four and six.
This is more than a traditional nanny role. We are looking for someone who would enjoy becoming a valued part of our family, sharing in our children’s development and joining us for travel, adventures and everyday family life. Our previous nanny stayed with us for four years and became a much-loved member of the family, and we hope to build the same kind of long-term relationship with the right person.
The standard rota is:
Monday to Friday: 6:30am–8:30am and 3:00pm–8:00pm
Two weekends per month: Up to 20 hours per weekend, arranged in advance
Two weekends per month completely off
Approximately 44 hours per week averaged across the year
The time between 8:30am and 3:00pm on weekdays is the nanny’s own off-duty time. Any work requested outside the agreed rota will be paid at £25 per hour, including additional babysitting, earlier starts, later finishes, extra weekend hours or a third working weekend.
Responsibilities
You will support the children’s daily routines, school life and development while encouraging good manners, independence, confidence and healthy habits. Responsibilities will also include:
Preparing and cooking children's meals
Children’s laundry and keeping their rooms and belongings organised
Grocery shopping and light household tidying
Packing and unpacking for trips
Driving and accompanying the children to activities, where required
Providing occasional evening babysitting
Taking initiative and working as part of the family team
We are ideally looking for someone with experience or qualifications in childcare, education, early-years learning or a related field. The successful candidate will be warm, fun, organised, proactive, responsible and confident travelling internationally with a family.
Travel
Travel is an important part of our family life, and the nanny may occasionally accompany us on UK or international trips. Travel will be planned in advance wherever possible, with working hours, off-duty time and rest periods clearly agreed before departure.
Family travel for childcare is considered work, not annual leave. The family will cover reasonable work-related expenses, including:
Flights, trains and transfers
Accommodation and meals
Visas and baggage costs
Local transport
Children’s activities and reasonable work-related purchases
Additional hours worked while travelling will be paid at £25 per hour. The nanny will always have a private bedroom and, wherever reasonably possible, a private bathroom. She will never be expected to share a bedroom with the children.
Candidates must have the appropriate UK passport or immigration/travel status to travel internationally with the family.
Accommodation and benefits
£65,000 gross annual salary
Private annex apartment for a live-in nanny
Use of a family car for work purposes
28 days’ paid annual leave, separate from family holidays
All agreed additional hours paid at £25 per hour
Work-related travel expenses reimbursed promptly
Start date
We are ideally looking for someone to start as soon as possible, although we can be flexible for the right candidate.
Above all, we are looking for someone who wants more than just their next nanny position—someone who would enjoy becoming part of a happy family, travelling, having fun and making a genuine difference in the lives of two wonderful children.
