Part-Time Nanny (Live-In or Live-Out) - near Basingstoke, Hampshire
Sole charge of two children (7 & 4) · start September 2026 · driver essential

At a glance
Position: Part-time, sole-charge nanny for two children — a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy
Location: Rural Hampshire, a ten-minute drive from Basingstoke (school in Twyford)
Start date: Ideally 14 September 2026 but happy to wait a couple of weeks for the right person
Live-in or live-out: Your choice - both welcome
Hours: Term time approx. 20 hours/week; school holidays 40 hours/week (Monday–Thursday, 8am–6pm)
Salary: Live-in: £1,600–£2,000 gross per month (private annexe + all food included). Live-out £15–£18 gross/hour — dependent on experience, plus a weekly fuel allowance. We're happy to pay an annualised salary (the same steady amount each month, year-round) rather than variable hourly pay.
Driving: Essential - your own car and a full, clean UK licence
Comfortable with dogs: We have a 1.5 year old golden labrador

About our family
We’re a warm, fun-loving family in the Hampshire countryside, ten minutes from Basingstoke. We love being outdoors, playing games and a bit of kitchen dancing - but we care about our children being kind, respectful and happy at home. We’re easy to talk to, clear about what we’re asking, and genuinely respectful of your time and your space.

The role
Term time (approx. 20 hours a week)
– Occasional morning school drop-off at Twyford (about a 25-minute drive each way)
– School pick-up from Twyford 4-5 afternoons per week
– Home for homework, dinner and bath, with a handover to us at 6pm
– Remaining hours: preparing the children’s meals, their laundry, keeping their rooms and belongings tidy, and some light housework

School holidays (40 hours a week)
– Monday to Thursday, 8am–6pm
– Full, fun days with the children - outings, activities, holiday clubs and play dates (there’s plenty to do locally)
– The occasional Friday, when grandparents are away (paid separately)

What we offer
– If you live in: your own private, self-contained annexe - bedroom, kitchen and bathroom — adjoining the house, with all food included
– A weekly fuel/mileage allowance
– A clear finish at 6pm most days - your evenings are genuinely your own
– Easy-going, respectful employers who value your independence and won’t intrude on your time off
– Paid holiday, a written contract and job description, and a three-month probationary period
– A settled, long-term role with a family who’ll look after you

Essential requirements
– Around five years’ or more sole-charge nanny experience with primary and early-years-age children
– Your own car and a full, clean UK driving licence - confident on country lanes, A-roads and motorways
– An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one), ideally on the Update Service
– A current paediatric first aid certificate
– The right to work in the UK
– Excellent spoken and written English
– Contactable references from recent roles
– A confident cook, and happy around a friendly one-year-old Labrador

Desirable (but not essential)
– A Level 3 childcare qualification (CACHE / NNEB / BTEC)
– Ofsted registration, so we can put Tax-Free Childcare toward your pay
– Safeguarding and food hygiene training

How to apply
We’d love to hear from you. Tell us a little about your childcare experience, why this role appeals, and two people we can contact for a reference. Our current nanny - who is moving on to a full-time role as our youngest starts school - is also happy to tell you what it’s like to work with our family.
We’ll meet shortlisted candidates in person and invite our preferred candidate to spend a trial day with us before anything is confirmed. We look forward to hearing from you.
