Maternity Nurse
A warm and welcoming family based in Islington are seeking an experienced, nurturing and development-focused nanny to care for their baby son, who was born at 26 weeks' gestation.

Now four months old (approximately six weeks corrected age), he has made wonderful progress following a challenging start to life. He continues to receive support from the Community Neonatal Team and is currently receiving some feeds via a feeding tube following a recent illness, although this is expected to be temporary.

This is not a medical role. The family are looking for an experienced nanny or maternity nanny who has previously cared for premature babies, understands corrected age and early childhood development, and can confidently work alongside the family's healthcare professionals while providing outstanding day-to-day care.

The family also have a happy two-year-old daughter who attends nursery full-time, therefore the role will focus solely on the care of their baby son.

Having benefited greatly from the support of a night nanny, the family are now looking for someone to continue encouraging their son's development and provide knowledgeable, reassuring support throughout the day.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

Provide warm, responsive and attentive one-to-one care.
Create and maintain a consistent routine appropriate to the baby's corrected age.
Plan engaging activities that promote sensory, cognitive, physical and emotional development.
Monitor developmental milestones and adapt activities as the baby grows.
Keep accurate daily records of feeds, sleep, nappies and developmental observations for both parents and the healthcare team.
Follow established feeding plans and confidently support bottle-feeding.
Work closely with the parents and follow guidance from the Community Neonatal Team where appropriate.
Be mindful of the baby's increased susceptibility to illness while supporting safe outings and age-appropriate experiences.
Maintain a calm, organised nursery environment and undertake all nursery duties relating to the baby.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

Have at least five years' professional nanny experience, with excellent newborn and infant experience.
Have previous experience caring for premature babies or infants who have spent time in a NICU.
Have a strong understanding of corrected (adjusted) age, developmental milestones and early childhood development.
Be confident planning engaging developmental activities tailored to the individual child.
Be experienced in monitoring development and keeping accurate records of feeds, sleep, nappies and developmental progress.
Communicate confidently with both parents and healthcare professionals.
Be calm, patient, nurturing, organised and proactive.
Be comfortable working in a home with a friendly British Bulldog and genuinely dog-friendly.
About the Family

This is a wonderful opportunity to support a family whose parenting journey has been shaped by an unexpected and challenging start. Although their son had a difficult beginning following his premature birth, he is making excellent progress and continues to go from strength to strength.

The family are looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate nanny who will become a valued part of their support network, helping their son continue to thrive while giving them confidence and peace of mind during this important stage of his development.
