Mothers Help
Mother's Help / Family Assistant & Home Cook (Shared Care)

Start: End of August / Early September
Hours: 30–40 hours per week. We're flexible and open to part-time or full-time hours for the right candidate.
Location: Brixton / Herne Hill
Position: Live-out, including one later shift per week finishing around 9–10pm.

About Us
We're a warm, welcoming family based in Brixton/Herne Hill looking for a reliable, organised Mother's Help to become an important part of our home.

We have two young children: a happy, curious 22-month-old son and our newborn daughter (currently 6 weeks old), plus a large, friendly cat called Sensei.

We value kindness, consistency and open communication, and aim to create a calm, happy home where our children learn through play, everyday life, time outdoors and family routines.

A well-run home is important to us because it allows us to be more present with our children. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating that sense of calm—someone who takes pride in preparing nourishing meals, keeping things organised, and noticing what needs doing without being asked.

Food is a big part of our family life. We cook almost everything from scratch using fresh, wholesome ingredients and would love someone who genuinely enjoys cooking and preparing simple, nutritious meals for the family.

The Role
This is a shared-care Mother's Help position with Mum at home, combining household support with hands-on childcare.

Some days you'll work alongside Mum; other times you'll confidently care for one or both children independently, including trips to the park, giving Mum time to focus on the baby, household tasks, herself, or gradually return to client work from January 2027.

Dad travels regularly for work, so we're looking for someone dependable, proactive and happy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities
• Supporting Mum with the day-to-day rhythm of family life.
• Providing childcare alongside Mum and independently when needed.
• Planning and preparing fresh, healthy meals and snacks from scratch.
• Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready for the next meal.
• Laundry, including washing, folding and putting clothes away.
• Tidying and maintaining organised living spaces.
• Grocery shopping, errands and household administration.
• Supporting the children's routines, play and development with warmth, patience and enthusiasm.

We have a regular cleaner, so this role isn't about deep cleaning. Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys creating order, takes initiative, and helps our home run smoothly while playing an active role in caring for our children.

About You
We're looking for someone who is:
• Warm, kind and genuinely enjoys spending time with young children.
• Organised, efficient and proactive, with the initiative to notice what needs doing.
• Calm, adaptable, positive and has a good sense of humour.
• A confident home cook who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals from scratch.
• Equally happy balancing household support with childcare—whether cooking, organising the home or taking the children out.
• Comfortable working alongside Mum while also using your own initiative.
• Reliable, trustworthy and looking for a long-term role where you can become a valued part of our family.

Above all, we're looking for someone who will bring warmth, positivity and practical support into our home, helping make family life calmer, more organised and more joyful each day.
