AH 175: Full-time Nanny (St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall)

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 gross per annum (DOE)

Start: Flexible (sooner for the right person; can wait to Sept/Oct)

Arthur’s House is recruiting on behalf of a warm, down-to-earth family for an experienced, confident nanny to join them in one of the most distinctive private homes in the UK. This role will suit someone dynamic, capable and genuinely fit for an all-weather, outdoor, high-energy position.

Life on the Mount is extraordinary but it’s not always glamorous. It requires resilience, practicality and a nanny who thrives in changing conditions.

The role:
This is a hands-on, full-time nanny role supporting two busy toddlers in an environment where plans can change quickly due to tides, boat access and weather. You must be the kind of nanny who stays calm, adapts fast, and keeps the children safe, happy and engaged whatever the day brings.

This is not a sedentary role. The setting involves walking and managing steps/slopes regularly often with kit and/or a child in arms.

Key responsibilities:
- Providing attentive, age-appropriate care for two young children
- Creating a fun, structured routine with plenty of outdoor play and development-focused activities
- Managing nursery duties (children’s laundry, tidying play areas, organising toys, children’s meals/snacks as required)
- Supporting sleep routines, mealtimes, behaviour and toddler transitions with confidence
- Being proactive and flexible when plans shift (e.g., weather/tide changes, cancelled crossings)
- Working alongside the wider household team with a friendly, collaborative approach
- Occasional sole charge overnight may be required if parents are unexpectedly unable to return (due to access/weather). You must be calm, capable and comfortable with this responsibility.

The family’s “must-have” qualities:
We are looking for a nanny who is:
- Experienced with toddlers and genuinely confident with sole charge
- Outdoorsy, all-weather and energetic happy to be outside year-round
- Physically fit and capable (this is essential for the setting and ages)
- Unflappable, adaptable and solutions-oriented
- Mature, steady and reliable (not easily thrown by isolation/winter quiet)
- Kind, warm and engaging with a muck in attitude
- Interested in a longer-term role (the family would love continuity)

Accommodation (if live-in):
Live-in accommodation is available in a beautiful attic space within the home. Please note it is not fully self-contained (no private kitchen), and the nanny would use the household kitchen facilities.

Live-out absolutely considered if you are based locally.

Hours:
This role is being advertised at 40 hours per week Mon-Fri. Flexibility is appreciated due to the nature of the location and family life.

Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
- Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to update)
- Excellent, checkable references
- Right to work in the UK
- Confident swimmer and boat user is a bonus (given the setting), though not essential
- Driver: helpful, but not the central requirement (access/location-dependent)
