Support Worker
Support Worker/Buddy – Tal-Y-Bont, LL43, Wales. A full-time role supporting Claire, a lively 27-year-old with cerebral palsy who enjoys shopping, swimming, animals, and family life. Up to £18.00 gross per hour.

Nearest Town: Tal-Y-Bont, Wales
Salary/Wage: £15.50 gross per hour (weekdays) and £16.00 gross per hour (weekends), rising to £17.00 (weekdays) and £18.00 (weekends) following completion of training and competencies.
Driving Requirements: Confident driver of an automatic wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV); comfortable with rural and longer journeys.
Essential:
• Experience or strong interest in supporting adults with physical disabilities.
• Animal-friendly (dogs, horses, alpacas).
• Comfortable with personal care.
• *This role is open to female candidates only.
Desirable:
• Previous care experience.
• Manual handling/hoist experience.
• Learning disability and/or communication needs experience.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (plus overtime if desired). Shifts vary between 8:00am–9:00 pm, including weekdays and weekends. One full weekend off per month with a rota planned.
Pets in Home: Yes – dogs, horses, alpacas, and ponies.

Claire, 27, is energetic, sociable, and enjoys family life with her mum and siblings. She loves shopping, Disney films, jigsaws, horse riding, and swimming. Claire has cerebral palsy and uses an Eye-Gaze device alongside gestures and vocalisation to communicate. She requires support with personal care, transfers, feeding, positioning, and daily activities. Claire's home is welcoming, busy, and full of animals.

overview of role
This is a full-time, permanent one-to-one support role at home and in the community. You will support Claire with personal care, outings, therapy appointments, college activities, and leisure pursuits. The role includes supporting healthy mealtimes, driving Claire’s WAV, and maintaining tidy environments used during support sessions. Claire’s home is fully adapted, including hoists and a lift.

who this role would suit
A *female support worker/buddy who enjoys a lively family environment, is comfortable around animals, and has a positive sense of humour. Previous care experience is welcomed but not essential, as full training is provided. This role would suit someone motivated to learn, confident driving on rural roads, and happy to accompany Claire and her family on UK or overseas holidays.
