Part Time Nanny
The family:
We are a family of three (soon to be four) based in Hammersmith, West London. Our son Julian is currently 20 months old, and we are expecting a second child in November 2026. We are a multilingual household — French and Serbian are both spoken at home alongside English — and we value warmth, consistency and a calm but stimulating environment for our children.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being with young children, brings their own ideas and energy to the day, and wants to build a lasting relationship with our family. This role has clear room to grow.
The role:
Days: Tuesday and Wednesday
Hours: 8:00am – 6:30pm (10.5 hours per day)
Type: Sole charge
Start date: July-August 2026
Location: Hammersmith, W6 (zone 2)
This is a sole charge position — on these two days, you will be Julian's primary carer from the moment his parents leave for the office until handover in the evening. We want someone who is confident managing a full day independently, including nap time, meals, and activities.
Julian:
Julian will be turning 2 in September 2026. He is an active, curious and sociable little boy who thrives on routine. A few things to know:
He has a mild cashew nut skin allergy and is currently on a daily desensitisation protocol (a small, fixed dose each morning). This is well established and we administer the dose at breakfast
He eats varied and balanced meals and is a good eater. We would love you to cook a proper lunch and dinner for him on your days.
He naps reliably from around 12:00–12:30pm to 2:00–2:30pm. Protecting this nap is important to his afternoon mood and routine.
He attends nursery three days a week; Tuesdays and Wednesdays are his home days with you.
Responsibilities:
Full day care for Julian including morning activities, meals, nap supervision and afternoon play
Cooking a nutritious lunch and dinner (we will keep the kitchen stocked)
Light tidying of Julian's space and any mess from the day
Outdoor time — We have excellent parks and green spaces nearby, including a pedestrian area surrounding our home
Being the go-to person on your days: if Julian is unwell and cannot attend nursery on another day, we may occasionally ask you to step in — this would be discussed in advance and reflected in the contract
What we are looking for
Genuine experience caring for toddlers, ideally in a sole charge setting
Strong references from London families (available for a call)
Warm, patient and confident — able to make decisions independently during the day
Interest in a role that will grow: we are expecting a second child in November 2026 and anticipate expanding hours from early 2027
A love of being outdoors and keeping toddlers engaged and active
French-speaking is a bonus but it is not a requirement
Requirements
Right to work in the UK must be confirmed before interview
Two contactable UK references; we will call both before making an offer
Practicalities
Salary: £18–20 per hour gross, depending on experience — we are open to the right candidate at the top of this range
Holiday: statutory entitlement (5.6 weeks pro-rata), inclusive of bank holidays
Payroll: We run a formal PAYE payroll
Trial period: We will agree a paid settling-in period so both sides can be confident in the fit before committing long-term
Please share a short introduction and your experience. In your message, please tell us how you would structure a full day with a 22-month-old; we read every response carefully.
