Job Summary:
The family are seeking an exceptional Governess to provide educational support, mentorship, and guidance to their children. Academics are highly valued within the household, alongside sporting achievement, personal growth, and overall wellbeing.
This is a sole charge role during working hours, requiring a proactive and engaging professional who can support the children's educational journey whilst fostering confidence, independence, resilience, and a love of learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing academic progress, supporting extracurricular commitments, and ensuring a structured balance between education, sport, and personal development. During school holidays, the Governess will create stimulating and enriching programmes designed to broaden the children's experiences and encourage curiosity and independent thinking.
Job specification:
• Collecting the children from school and accompanying them to activities, appointments, or home as required
• Ensuring all homework is completed to a high standard
• Providing additional educational support and academic enrichment
• Supporting preparation for assessments, projects, and examinations
• Monitoring educational progress and maintaining communication with parents when required
• Encouraging strong organisational skills, study habits, and independent learning
• Ensuring weekend homework and academic commitments are completed before departure on Fridays
• Promoting confidence, resilience, leadership, teamwork, and discipline
• Encouraging participation in sport and physical activities
• Supporting the children's overall wellbeing and personal development
• Managing daily schedules and ensuring smooth transitions between school, activities, study time, and home life
• Planning engaging educational, cultural, and sporting activities during school holidays
• Organising visits to museums, galleries, exhibitions, and other enriching venues
• Arranging educational excursions and experiences
• Encouraging curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning
Candidate specification:
• Degree educated in Mathematics, English, Science, or a related discipline (essential)
• Previous experience supporting children's educational development
• Strong understanding of the UK curriculum
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Professional, discreet, and proactive approach
• Genuine interest in education, sport, personal development, and child wellbeing
• Confident mentoring and motivating children to achieve their full potential
• Resourceful, engaging, and able to use initiative
• Passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences
