International Rota Governess (with Nanny Duties) – Monaco and Spain

Location: Monaco and Spain, with international travel
Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, with some flexibility
Salary: £80,000+ gross per annum, or euro equivalent depending on candidate location
Start Date: ASAP, by early July at the latest
Child: One child aged 8
Requirements: EU passport preferred
Languages: Fluent English essential; Spanish or French advantageous

A lovely international family is seeking an experienced, engaging and adaptable Governess with nanny duties to support the care, education and development of their bright and inquisitive 8-year-old daughter.
The role is based primarily between Monaco and Spain, with occasional travel elsewhere in Europe and to the UK. The successful candidate will work alongside another rota professional and liaise closely with the wider household and family office team.

The child is currently home-schooled, although she may transition into mainstream schooling from September (TBC). The family is therefore seeking a candidate with a strong educational focus who can nurture the child's intellectual curiosity, encourage a love of learning, support her academic progress and help develop her confidence, independence and social skills.

Alongside the educational element, the role includes all aspects of day-to-day childcare, ensuring the child is happy, engaged, well-supported and thriving both academically and emotionally.
The ideal candidate will be warm, polished and emotionally intelligent, with a firm-but-fair approach, excellent organisational skills and the flexibility to adapt to an international lifestyle and changing schedules.

Key Responsibilities
Provide sole-charge care and educational support for one child aged 8
Support the child's academic development and foster a genuine enthusiasm for learning
Create engaging educational activities tailored to the child's interests and abilities
Encourage independence, confidence, good manners and positive social development
Support any homeschooling requirements and liaise with tutors, teachers and educational professionals as required
Organise enriching outings, cultural activities and age-appropriate experiences
Oversee routines, wellbeing and emotional development
Prepare healthy gluten-free meals for the child
Travel internationally with the family
Liaise effectively with the wider household, family office and education team
Assist with family-related errands while the child is engaged in lessons or activities
Help with the care of one or two small dogs, including feeding, walking and play

Candidate Profile
Fluent English essential
Qualified teacher, governess or highly educationally focused nanny preferred
Spanish or French highly desirable
Previous experience working as a governess, tutor, teacher or educational nanny within private households
Experience supporting primary-age children academically and developmentally
Confident working in rota positions and/or fully staffed private households
Flexible and adaptable to an international lifestyle and frequent travel
Warm, engaging and nurturing, with clear boundaries and high standards
EU passport is preferred for ease of travel
Driver is a bonus
Pet-friendly and comfortable around dogs and horses
