A proactive, organised nanny/family assistant is needed. You will be caring for a delightful little girl who will be three in June 2026. The little girl is funny, smart, energetic, and curious. She goes to daycare two days a week and attends weekly local classes, including swimming. We are seeking someone who enjoys both childcare and family assistant duties. The role is approximately 70% childcare and 30% family assistant duties.

The family is open to speaking with candidates with varying levels of experience, including candidates at the start of their childcare career. Someone proactive, with strong communication skills and keen to learn, will be a good fit.

You will be provided with a small studio apartment in the heart of Amsterdam, located close to the family home. The family is also happy to consider live-out candidates.

The family has a strong preference for a native or fluent Italian-speaking nanny; however, they are happy to speak with English-speaking nannies. The little girl is used to an Italian-speaking nanny, so English-speaking nannies need to be confident in supporting her English language skills.

Vital requirements: EU or Dutch resident permit.

Schedule:
Monday: 9:00–18:00
Tuesday: 09:00–17:30
Wednesday: Day off
Thursday: Day off
Friday: 16:00–until between 21:00 and 23:00
Saturday: 07:00–14:00 (depending on prior evening shift, usually shift starts at 8:00 or 9:00)
Sunday: 09:30–13:30.

The family is very organised and plans the calendar a month in advance. Once a month, if you have an occasion or prefer, they can arrange an external sitter for Friday evening.

Start Date: ASAP can wait for the right candidate.

Commitment & contract length: Initial contract 7 - 12 months. Happy to commit for at least a year.

Responsibilities and duties:
Provide attentive childcare, including being creative and imaginative in coming up with a variety of activities both at home and out and about, including reading, arts and crafts, and outside play (no screen time)
Part of your role is encouraging development and life skills, e.g., teaching numbers, colours, letters, etc
Providing structure and ensuring the child’s routine is followed
Child-related housekeeping (tidying play areas, children’s laundry, dishes, etc.)
Helping ensure the household runs smoothly, including groceries, errands, stock management, and keeping everything organised and stocked. Possibly managing communication with the cleaning team
Communicate regularly with parents regarding the child’s development, household inventory, etc
Preparing snacks and food, including cooking for the family twice a week (the family will provide support with recipes, etc).

Experience, qualifications, approach, and skills:
Being proactive, happy to use your initiative, are vital skills for this role
Minimum of three years of childcare experience. Nannying experience is not required (ideal job for your first nanny role or for a nanny seeking a role which includes family assistant duties)
Understand and have good knowledge of ages two and up
Have an eye for safety and hygiene, maintaining a safe and clean environment
Capable, kind, patient, and calm
The Mum is hands-on and organised, someone collaborative and a team player is needed
It’s a plus if you have an early childhood education background or relevant training
Happy to cycle with the child on your bike.
