About the role/family: SENNIES is delighted to support a busy family in Redbridge, where both parents work full
time in the city. Their son, B6, is six years old, diagnosed with autism, and non-verbal. He attends a specialist
school, receiving regular occupational therapy and speech and language support, while the family continue to
reinforce his communication and learning strategies at home.
The family are looking for a Sennie with experience supporting children with autism and non-verbal
communication to help extend his development and independence at home. This includes supporting his speech
and language, encouraging academic exercises to complement his school learning, and reinforcing
independence skills such as dressing, toileting, and eating. A calm, patient, and consistent approach is essential,
alongside creativity and enthusiasm to engage him through activities, play, and food-based motivation.
The Sennie will work closely with the family and school, implementing strategies from his occupational therapy
and speech and language therapy, and contributing to his communication and emotional regulation progress. Full
handover and access to reports from the current nanny will be provided to ensure a smooth transition.
About the child/children: B6 is an engaging and affectionate six-year-old boy diagnosed with autism and
non-verbal. He attends a specialist school in Redbridge, where he receives regular occupational therapy and
speech and language support. He enjoys a wide variety of activities, including swimming, climbing, outdoor play,
jigsaws, reading, and matching games, and he has a keen interest in food, exploring new tastes and textures.
While he sometimes requests TV, this is limited at home to avoid repetitive fixations.
B6 benefits from consistent support to develop his communication, social skills, and independence, particularly in
self-care and daily routines. A Sennie in this role can extend his learning and progress from school by reinforcing
therapy strategies, providing structured play, and supporting interactive engagement with other children. With a
calm, patient, and nurturing approach, the Sennie can help B6 manage sensory-seeking behaviours and high
energy levels, encourage his participation in activities, and foster confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in his
day-to-day experiences.
