About this child/client: Phil, 61, is a friendly and good-humoured gentleman who enjoys sport, golf, dominoes, backgammon, walks and following Leeds United. He lives with his wife and two adult children. Phil uses a stroller for shorter outings and a wheelchair for longer distances. Following an Acquired Brain Injury sustained in a road traffic accident, he now follows a structured rehabilitation programme designed by an MDT including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. Due to his ABI, Phil can experience fatigue, confusion, agitation and reduced awareness, though he remains sociable, engaging and witty.
Overview of role: You will play an important role in promoting Phil’s independence, dignity and confidence through gentle prompts and visual cues to support routines and participation in daily life. His days are carefully structured to balance therapy, rest and enjoyable activities while avoiding overstimulation. You will work closely under the guidance of the MDT, following tailored rehabilitation plans to support his ongoing recovery.
Who this role would suit: A *female support worker who is confident, compassionate, observant and respectful. You will be comfortable working independently while following detailed MDT guidance. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with professionals and the case management team. You should be able to recognise when Phil needs reduced stimulation and adapt your approach accordingly. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for someone committed to making a meaningful difference.
What’s great about this job: You will join a supportive and established team within a welcoming family home. This is an opportunity to play a key role in Phil’s rehabilitation journey, with full training and ongoing professional support provided.
