About the role/child: SENNIES is excited to support a caring family seek a supportive and experienced Sennie to care for their autistic 7-year-old son during school holidays. B7 is a happy, sensory-seeking child who enjoys water play, trampolining, swimming, and watching “Hey Duggee.” He attends a specialist school and, particularly in the summer, spends much of his time in the family garden, where the role involves supervising him to play safely while encouraging increasing independence, alongside providing meaningful one-to-one interaction and play opportunities. A full clean UK driving licence is preferred to enable outings to local pools, playgrounds, or splash parks, which B7 greatly enjoys. The role also includes preparing simple food and snacks, as he tends to prefer snack-based eating rather than cooked meals.
The family are looking for someone with experience supporting autistic children who is enthusiastic about helping them learn and develop. A neurodiversity-affirming approach is essential, with a focus on meeting B7’s sensory and regulation needs while gently supporting the development of communication and independence.

B7 is an active child who enjoys jumping, running, and swinging, but has limited danger awareness, so requires close supervision despite being able to occupy himself for periods of time. He may need support with emotional regulation when overwhelmed. Key areas for development include fine motor skills, as well as building independence in daily tasks like dressing and improving safety awareness. Experience with potty training would be beneficial, as he is aware of his body but currently uses the toilet only for urination and relies on a pull-up for bowel movements. B7 has an older sister, though she will not require support within this role.
