A private family based in Marylebone is seeking a highly organised, confident English-speaking governess/tutor to take full responsibility for structuring and managing two children’s online British curriculum programme during a temporary stay in London.
This is a short-term, education-focused role requiring independence, strong organisational skills, and the ability to confidently manage two children of different ages within a structured day.
Children
• 8-year-old (Year 3)
• 5-year-old (Reception)
Working Hours
• Monday to Thursday
• 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Hours can be discussed
Total: 32 hours per week
Salary
• From £30 gross per hour (self-employed), depending on experience
• Weekly from £960+
Start Date
• 3rd April – 30th April

Role Overview
The governess will take full ownership of the children’s daily academic routine and structure.
This is not a passive support role. The candidate must be able to independently organise the day, maintain focus, manage transitions, and ensure both children are engaged and progressing.
Main Responsibilities
Education
• Structure and lead the full school day
• Support both children with their online British curriculum programme
• Ensure tasks are completed to a high standard
• Maintain focus and minimise distractions
• Confidently alternate attention between both children
Daily Structure
• Plan and manage a clear daily routine
• Balance learning, breaks, and outdoor time
• Take children out for walks / fresh air
Meals & Practical Support
• Prepare / heat simple, healthy meals and snacks
• Ensure smooth transitions between activities
Environment
• Maintain a calm, structured and organised space
• Keep school materials and areas tidy and ready
Communication
• Provide concise, structured updates to parents on progress and any challenges
Nanny Duties
• Supervise children throughout the day
• Support routines and transitions
• Ensure children’s well-being during working hours
Child-related Housekeeping
• Prepare meals and snacks for the children
• Keep learning and activity areas organised
• Manage school materials
No deep cleaning
Requirements
• Strong experience as a governess, tutor or primary teacher
• Solid understanding of the British curriculum
• Fluent English (essential)
• Confident managing two children independently
• Highly organised, structured and proactive
• Calm authority and ability to hold boundaries
• Able to take ownership without constant direction
• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
• Excellent references
