About the child/role: B4 is a 4-year-old boy who lives at home with his family and currently attends nursery full-time. He presents with a speech delay and likely autism, and would benefit from additional 1:1 support alongside nursery to help build key developmental skills and prepare him for school. The family are seeking a Sennie for two days per week to provide targeted, individualised support in a calm, engaging and nurturing way. B4 is a kind, affectionate and cuddly child who forms strong connections with familiar adults. He has a gentle temperament, with no behaviours of aggression or significant distress, and is generally happy and content. He is very active and benefits from movement to help regulate, often enjoying running around the garden. He also shows a strong interest in organising and categorising, particularly with colours and letters, and enjoys activities such as drawing and sorting pens. These interests provide a valuable foundation for engagement and learning.
B4 is currently using a small number of single words and is beginning to repeat words when prompted by pictures or toys. Supporting his speech and communication development is a key focus, alongside building his confidence to express his needs and interact more independently. The family already incorporate strategies from Speech and Language Therapy into daily life, including lots of one-to-one play, reading and drawing activities to encourage language development. The Sennie will play an important role in building on these foundations by providing consistent, play-based support that targets communication, self-care and early independence skills. This includes supporting dressing, encouraging toileting and potty training, and gently introducing new foods. A structured but flexible approach will help B4 feel secure while also encouraging progress across these areas.
Overall, this role is centred around supporting B4’s early development in a fun, engaging and responsive way. The aim is to build his communication skills, support his independence in daily routines, and help prepare him for a successful transition into a school environment, while ensuring he feels safe, understood and motivated to learn.
