Position Summary

International Nanny is seeking an experienced, English-speaking Maternity Nurse for a staged placement in Norway, commencing in early July 2026. This assignment begins with an initial two-week period of 24/7 care, followed by a second support phase in August or September with a 24/5 or 24/6 schedule. The role involves full newborn care, supporting breastfeeding, and establishing sustainable routines within a collaborative, staffed household. The successful candidate will work alongside the family’s existing nanny to provide seamless support during the postnatal period.

Key Responsibilities

The Maternity Nurse will take full responsibility for all aspects of newborn care during the agreed periods of employment, while working in close partnership with the parents.

Schedule and Structure

The initial booking is expected to commence around early July 2026, depending on the baby’s actual arrival date. As with all maternity placements, flexibility regarding the start date is crucial, as the birth may occur earlier or later than expected.

The first stage of the role will be:

14 consecutive days
24-hour cover
With a typical four-hour daily break, usually taken in the morning, to allow the Maternity Nurse proper rest and personal time.

Following this, there will be a gap before a second booking resumes in August or September 2026. For this follow-up period, the family is considering either:

24/6, or
24/5

Depending on practical needs at the time.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and emotionally intelligent Maternity Nurse who combines strong newborn knowledge with warmth, flexibility, and excellent professional judgement.

The family is looking for someone who is:

Fluent in English
Highly experienced in newborn and postnatal care
Confident supporting breastfeeding mothers
Skilled in establishing routines in a gentle and sustainable way
Calm, capable, and discreet
Practical, hands-on, and reassuring in nature
Flexible in approach and happy to work as part of a team
Service-oriented, with a genuine desire to support the family as a whole
Comfortable adapting to the rhythm and needs of a private household
Able to communicate clearly and proactively during the pre-labour and labour period in order to coordinate travel and arrival smoothly

Salary and Employment Terms

The salary for this role is £400+ gross per day, depending on experience, qualifications, and suitability for the family’s requirements.

Please note that Maternity Nurses are typically engaged on a self-employed basis and are therefore responsible for managing their own taxes, national insurance, and any relevant professional insurance.
Who This Role Would Suit

This position would suit a polished and experienced Maternity Nurse who is confident with newborns, supportive of breastfeeding, and naturally inclined to work in a way that feels both professional and personal. It is particularly well-suited to someone who understands the rhythm of private households, values communication and flexibility, and takes pride in helping families feel calmer, more rested, and well-supported during the newborn stage.
