Wonderful live-in Housekeeper/Cook Opportunity in rural Somerset

We are seeking a dedicated, warm, and highly reliable live-in Housekeeper/Cook to join a private family home set in the countryside near Bristol. The successful candidate will be confident managing day-to-day household duties, preparing nutritious meals, and ensuring this 7-bedroom home runs smoothly and efficiently. There is also a daytime live-out housekeeper, and this position will involve overseeing daily tasks and maintaining overall household organisation, working collaboratively with the live-out housekeeper to ensure the smooth running of the family’s home.

The family are looking for someone who enjoys supporting family life, is calm and proactive in their approach, and values consistency and longevity in a role. Occasional childcare support will be required for two school-aged children, alongside light pet care and general household coordination, so the successful candidate must be child and pet friendly. This is very much a hands-on, all-rounder role within a relaxed but well-maintained home, so a can-do, proactive candidate is required.

Working from Monday to Friday from 8am-1:30pm and then again from 4:30/5pm-9pm, the role will require some flexibility to assist for a few hours on a Saturday as well when required, which will be paid in addition to the salary. Accommodation is offered on site in a private 2-bedroom annex, with all bills included. A driving license is not required, though would be beneficial.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• General cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, changing beds, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen
• Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
• Daily cooking and thoughtful menu planning for the family
• Managing pantry, food shopping, and household supplies with a focus on efficiency and minimal waste
• Overseeing and coordinating tasks for the daytime live-out housekeeper
• Supporting with school runs when required
• Providing occasional childcare support for two children (ages 9 and 13), including rare overnight care
• Caring for family pets (one dog and one cat), including feeding and walks
• Maintaining overall organisation of the home and ensuring a calm, well-run household
• Light budgeting and management of household-related expenses

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior housekeeping experience in high-end private households
• Good knowledge of cleaning products and able to care for high-end furnishings and fabrics
• Strong cooking skills and confidence in planning preparing healthy, fresh family-style meals
• Proactive, confident and a good communicator
• Highly reliable, trustworthy, and committed to a long-term position
• Calm, patient, and proactive approach to household management
• Comfortable supporting a family environment, including children and pets
• Happy living in a rural countryside setting
• Driver preferred (but not essential)
• Good spoken English
• Right to live and work in the UK
• Excellent checkable references
