Live-In Support Worker – Young Adult (18) with Cerebral Palsy

Location: London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 6-week live-in placement
Schedule: 7 days per week, 6:00am – 9:30pm (with a 4-hour break during the day)
Accommodation: own bedroom and en-suite
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A warm and welcoming family is seeking an experienced and compassionate live-in support worker to care for their 18-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a bright, engaging and intelligent young man who enjoys interaction, conversation and being involved in the world around him.

The Role

This is a hands-on, full-care role where you will be supporting all aspects of his daily needs, while also providing companionship and helping him enjoy his day-to-day life.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting with all personal care, including toileting, bathing and hygiene

Hoisting and safe manual handling

Supporting feeding and mealtimes

Administering medication

Supporting mobility and confidently managing a wheelchair

Following daily routines and supporting activities

Providing engaging companionship and interaction

Travel Opportunity

Looking ahead, the family is also hoping to support their son in taking an extended period of travel (approximately 6–9 months), potentially including a road trip around Italy. They would ideally like to find someone who could accompany him on this journey, providing consistent care and support while travelling.

The Ideal Candidate

The family is looking for someone who:

Has strong experience working with young adults with disabilities, ideally cerebral palsy

Is physically capable and confident with hoisting and manual handling

Is confident administering medication

Has a calm, patient and compassionate approach

Is engaging and able to build a positive, respectful relationship

Is flexible and open to travel

Is organised, reliable and proactive

Additional Information

This is a live-in role for an initial 6-week period, requiring full commitment across 7 days per week

A 4-hour break is provided during the day

There is a strong opportunity for this position to become permanent as a live-in role

The role could also evolve into a travel companion position, supporting him during a planned year of travel, including a potential road trip
