Overview
Our client, a busy international family based just outside Milan, is seeking an experienced and highly organised Live-in Nanny / Governess to support the education and academic development of their six children (ages 13, 11, 10, 8, 5, and 3).
You will work alongside an existing Tutor and be supported by a Nanny/Housekeeper, focusing primarily on the four older children’s academic progress while contributing to the smooth running of the children’s daily routines.
Governess Duties:
Support the older children with GCSE-level British curriculum homework
Foster strong study habits and independent learning skills
Provide SEN support, particularly for the eldest child (ADHD)
Work closely with the Tutor and Nanny to ensure consistency across educational routines and expectations
Nanny Duties
Support with morning and after-school routines including snacks, organisation of school bags, and next-day preparation
Assist with children’s daily schedules, ensuring structure, routine, and positive behaviour management
Accompany the children to extracurricular activities, appointments, and outings when required
Assist with packing/unpacking for travel and ensure children’s belongings are organised
Help maintain children’s areas (bedrooms, play areas, and study spaces) in a tidy and organised manner
Work collaboratively with the Nanny/Housekeeper to ensure seamless daily operations
Provide occasional babysitting and proxy parenting when required
Offer ad hoc support for the younger children (ages 5 and 3) as needed
Candidate Requirements
Must hold an EU and UK passport or valid visa
Proven experience within private households
Strong knowledge of both Primary and Secondary British curriculum
SEN experience highly desirable
Highly organised, proactive, and able to engage children across a range of ages and abilities
Calm, patient, discreet, and professional in approach
Fluent English preferred; Italian is a bonus
