About this Child: James is an intellectually gifted and thoughtful 6-year-old with a very high IQ. He enjoys chess, Lego, imaginative play, nature, wall climbing, and gymnastics. Naturally curious, he asks complex questions and thrives when learning is engaging and meaningful.
James benefits from structured support with social communication, emotional regulation, and confidence-building. He is currently homeschooled and participates in Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy. The right candidate will creatively embed therapeutic strategies into play and daily routines, helping him develop skills in a natural, enjoyable way within a supportive and relationally safe environment.
The Role at a Glance: This part-time role involves delivering engaging, therapy-informed support in the home. You will implement OT and/or SLT strategies in everyday contexts, encourage social communication through interactive activities, and reinforce learning alongside the existing homeschooling approach.
Creativity and flexibility are key, as skill-building should be seamlessly integrated into James’s interests, play, and daily life. The role suits someone who enjoys intellectual engagement and applying therapeutic knowledge in a practical, home-based setting.
This Job Would Suit: An enthusiastic and experienced individual (male or female) already living locally, with a background in Special Educational Needs, therapy-based education, or related disciplines. Candidates should be confident using OT/SLT-informed strategies, enjoy creative problem-solving, and thrive supporting a gifted child’s curiosity, thinking, and emotional development.
Why You’ll Love This Role: You will work in a home-schooling environment that allows professional creativity and flexibility while making a meaningful difference within a supportive family setting. The role offers stimulating, varied activities combining play, learning, and therapeutic input, alongside flexible hours for the right candidate.
