About the child/children/role: G11 is an 11-year-old girl with moderate learning difficulties and hearing loss. She wears hearing aids at school but not at home, so clear one-step instructions and consistent expectations are needed. She enjoys her pet dog, playing with her sister, TV, simple maths challenges, and crafts. Reading and writing are effortful, and she works broadly at a 5–7-year-old level. She can become moody or uncooperative, particularly in games, and needs support to take ownership of her behaviour, listen, and engage in family life.

G11 lives with her mum and younger sister, who is nearly eight. Their father passed away several years ago, and while mum ensures the girls are fed, clothed, and attend school, maintaining discipline at home is challenging. Mum has worked with therapists and had in-home support previously. Mum will cease her night carer role during week beginning 9.2.26 and will in the future be more available to collaborate with the Sennies worker.

The Sennies worker will support G11 daily with homework and therapy tasks in fun, play-based ways that follow guidance from her multidisciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Physiotherapy. The role includes implementing structured routines, promoting emotional regulation, and preparing her for a specialist school in September 2026.

The worker will also support mum to embed rules and routines consistently at home, including training and managing the family puppy. G8 is not the primary focus but will be included in family activities and behavioural strategies, allowing G11 space for focused work while promoting sibling cooperation and age-appropriate independence.

This role requires calm authority, consistency, and the ability to embed therapeutic learning and behavioural support into daily family life.
