Nanny
Nanny – Core Responsibilities

Childcare
• Ensure children’s safety, wellbeing, health, and developmental progress.
• Daily care: bathing, feeding, dressing, bedtime routines, and twice-daily toothbrushing.
• Administer vitamins/medications as instructed and log all doses.
• Support learning and development through reading, writing, creative play, music, puzzles, Montessori-style activities, and age-appropriate skills.
• Plan and supervise activities, playdates, classes, parks, museums, swimming, and outings.
• Attend medical appointments and care for children when unwell.
• Provide emotional support and appropriate stimulation.

Household & Nursery Duties
• Keep children’s bedrooms, play areas, wardrobes, and changing areas tidy.
• Sterilise bottles and maintain baby equipment.
• Update shopping list when supplies run low.
• Children’s laundry/ironing when needed; weekly bed-linen changes.
• Empty nappy and household bins when full.
• Light kitchen duties: simple meal prep, snacks, tidying after meals, dishwasher loading, wiping counters.
• General tidying (hoovering, dusting, mopping when needed), toy organisation (no deep cleaning).
• Fold and organise children’s clothes.
• Ensure hazardous items are safely stored.

Travel & Scheduling
• Nursery/school drop-off and pick-up.
• Prepare school bag daily.
• Travel with the family when required (including some weekends, holidays, Christmas/New Year, and August).
• Assist with packing/unpacking and light duties in family homes abroad.

Shopping & Supplies
• Monitor and replenish essential household and childcare items.
• Purchase small local items as needed (main food shop handled by employer).
• Secure the house when leaving (locks, windows, alarms).

Behaviour & Conduct
• Provide daily updates to parents on activities, progress, and concerns.
• No delegating duties without approval.
• Babysitting by prior agreement.
• No TV unless approved or needed for calming.
• Follow parental routines, boundaries, and discipline; never contradict parents in front of children.
• No shouting or physical punishment.

Hygiene & Health
• Maintain high personal hygiene; clean clothes; hair tied back when appropriate.
• No kissing children or sharing food, cutlery, or glasses.
• Dispose of nappies securely (double-bagged or more if soiled).
• Wear a mask if unwell; flu vaccine reimbursed.
• Notify parents immediately if illness affects duties.
• Keep phone sanitised; no phone near babies/prams.
• No personal hygiene or toilet use in front of children.

Technology & Media
• No mobile phone use during working hours except for messaging parents, emergencies, or arranging activities.
• No photos or videos of children on personal devices.

House Etiquette
• Eat breakfast before starting work.
• No eating in front of children except fruit/veg/water/tea; no sharing food.
• No food/drinks (other than water/tea) in children’s bedrooms.
• Children not permitted in nanny’s bedroom.
• Switch off lights when not in use.
• Avoid strong-smelling food; ventilate kitchen.
• Always inform parents of whereabouts and expected return time.

Safety
• Never leave children unattended.
• Prioritise safety at all times.
• Change nappies only in children’s bedrooms.

Other reasonable childcare-related duties may be required.
