Overview
A Mandarin-speaking family based in Paris is seeking a highly qualified English-speaking Governess to provide comprehensive educational and developmental support for three children aged 9, 13, and 15, all of whom attend an International American School.
Perfect or near-native English (C1/C2 level) is essential.
French language skills are considered a strong plus.
Mandarin language skills are also a plus, but not essential..
In addition, the governess will provide light English-language support to the mother, who is developing her English. This is a secondary responsibility and not the main focus of the role.
Children’s Profile
Age 9: Requires structured academic support and study skills development
Ages 13 & 15: Secondary-level academic mentoring and exam support
One child has mild ADHD and benefits from structured routines and long-term learning strategies
Key Responsibilities
Provide academic support aligned with the International American School curriculum
Assist with homework, coursework, revision, and exam preparation
Develop and implement individual learning plans
Apply consistent, long-term strategies to support mild ADHD
Provide supportive English-language practice to the mother as required
Travel with the family when needed
Plan and arrange educational activities, cultural outings, and enrichment experiences
Liaise with school staff, tutors, and external specialists
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to parents
Candidate Requirements
Qualified teacher (mandatory) – recognised teaching qualification required
Degree in Education or related field
Perfect or near-native English (C1/C2) – essential
Proof of possession of c1/c2 English
French language skills for navigating yourself around Paris
Mandarin language skills a plus
Experience with international / American curriculum
Proven experience teaching primary and secondary-aged children
Experience supporting children with ADHD or additional educational needs
Professional, discreet, flexible, and confident working in a private household
Working Hours
Term Time (Non-School Holidays):
30–40 hours per week, schedule to be agreed
School Holidays:
Monday to Saturday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Flexibility required, particularly during travel periods.
