About the Client
Archie is a fascinating older gentleman who lives with his partner, Anna, in their beautiful Surrey home. With a long and accomplished career in the music industry, he enjoys sharing stories from earlier years. His interests include sports, Formula 1, American football, nature programmes, documentaries, concerts, gardening shows, films, and spending time in his stunning garden.
In March 2025, Archie experienced a haemorrhagic stroke and now presents with severe short-term memory impairment and signs of vascular dementia. He experiences delusions, variable confusion and insomnia, and struggles with tasks such as managing written information, cooking full meals, using remotes, or locating everyday items. He can receive calls but cannot make them or manage appointments. Archie enjoys outings but is no longer able to drive, so a confident driver is essential.

This role centres on thoughtful companionship, reassurance and practical support.

The Role at a Glance
Archie and Anna are seeking a professional Support Worker to assist on Saturdays. Archie enjoys daily drives and outings—garden centres, shops, local trips, occasional visits to London, and sometimes medical appointments.
Respectful, tactful interaction is key. Archie values his independence, so you’ll offer support subtly—helping with tea, snacks, simple meals, and finding items like keys, phone chargers and remotes.

He loves conversation and reminiscing, so patience and strong listening skills are essential. Physical care is not required. The role is about being present, calm, and responsive—knowing when to step in and when to give space—while remaining composed if Archie becomes confused or frustrated.

This Job Would Suit
Someone positive, calm, patient and empathetic, who supports with kindness and maintains professionalism during moments of confusion or frustration. Experience with dementia is helpful but not essential; willingness to learn, steady emotional presence, and genuine compassion matter most. Ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful companionship and can offer consistent, reassuring support.

Why You’ll Love This Role
Working with Archie is inspiring—his stories, charm and warmth make this a truly rewarding role. Set in a beautiful home and picturesque surroundings, this opportunity offers a uniquely fulfilling working environment with genuine human connection at its heart.
