Nanny-Housekeeper
Happy Nest is delighted to support a lovely, down-to-earth family in Scarisbrick who are looking for a kind, proactive, and nurturing nanny to join them for a one-year period as they prepare to welcome a new baby in February. If you enjoy busy family homes, children with big personalities, and being an organised extra pair of hands during the morning rush, this role will be a great fit.
About the Children
This role supports two happy, outdoorsy children who enjoy an active start to the day:
• A bright and busy 5-year-old who loves gymnastics, swimming, caring for her chickens, riding her bike, and listening to stories. She is severely sight impaired, so while she is wonderfully independent in many ways, she benefits from gentle supervision with practical tasks such as getting dressed or locating personal items she may misplace.
• A sweet and energetic 2-year-old who enjoys football, tractors, bikes, playdough, and story time. He is affectionate, fun, and always up for a little adventure – he’s not a fan of spiders though!
The family also have two friendly dogs (a German Shepherd and a Border Terrier), so the nanny must be confident and comfortable around pets.
The Role
This position is ideal for someone who loves bringing calm, structure, and warmth to a busy family home. The family describe their ideal nanny as a “second mum” to help mornings run smoothly and support the household as they adjust to life with a newborn.
Morning Routine
• Arrive ready to help the older children get dressed and prepared for the day
• Prepare simple, healthy breakfasts such as porridge, eggs on toast, and similar options
• Organise school bags and complete the morning school run
• Ensure the children have everything they need for the day ahead
Support for Mum and New Baby
Once the school drop-off is complete, the nanny will give mum an hour to rest, exercise, run errands, or simply regain some energy depending on how the previous night has gone with the newborn.
Light Housekeeping and Household Support
• Loading and unloading the dishwasher
• Washing and sterilising baby bottles
• Children’s laundry, ironing, and general clothing organisation
• Making the children’s beds
• Tidying toys and play areas
• Running simple errands if needed
• Preparing wholesome family meals such as slow-cooker dishes, scouse, bolognese, shepherd’s pie, and simple curries
This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys contributing to the smooth running of a family household.
Who This Role Suits
• A nanny who is warm, reliable, and naturally nurturing
• Someone safety-conscious and confident supporting a child with visual impairment
• A nanny who enjoys cooking and preparing simple family meals
• Someone comfortable around friendly family pets
• A confident driver with their own car
Requirements
All Happy Nest nannies must meet the following criteria:
• Minimum of 3 years professional childcare experience
• Enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain)
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to update)
• Excellent references from recent childcare roles
• Confident driver with access to own vehicle
• Right to work in the UK
• Professional, reliable, and positive approach to daily duties
This is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a warm and appreciative household during an exciting period of change. You will play an important part in setting the children up for a positive day and giving mum the vital time she needs while caring for a newborn.
