About the role/child: SENNIES is delighted to support a warm and understanding family seeking a compassionate and patient Sennie to support their son, B8, within their nurturing, low-demand household. The family values a calm and flexible approach, where B8 is encouraged to take the lead and feel a sense of autonomy in his day-to-day life. While there are gentle expectations around daily routines such as getting dressed, eating, and participating in family activities, these are always approached with sensitivity and understanding of B8’s need for control and choice.

B8 thrives in an environment that feels safe, predictable, and pressure-free. The family works hard to maintain a calm atmosphere and to minimise conflict, even when challenges arise — such as when B8 finds it difficult to join in with activities or when his preferences differ from those of his younger brother. The right Sennie will be able to support this balance by using empathy, gentle encouragement, and creativity to help B8 engage in daily life and discover enjoyment in shared activities. Screen time is carefully managed, as it provides a valuable source of regulation for B8, but access to the internet is restricted until the family can ensure his online safety. He loves being outdoors and benefits greatly from activities such as swimming, nature walks, and exploring new environments, although he may need some gentle guidance and reassurance to participate.

B8 currently receives weekly Occupational Therapy, and he also attends a specialist school where he has regular Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT). The family is in the process of seeking additional private therapeutic support to further his progress. The Sennie will play an important role in reinforcing strategies recommended by his therapists, helping B8 generalise these skills at home and in the community.

B8 is a bright, affectionate, and trusting little boy with a wonderfully gentle nature. He has a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). He also has mild Cerebral Palsy but remains physically active and enjoys being on the move. B8 is happiest when he feels calm, safe, and understood. He has a vivid imagination and doesn’t always stay rooted in the “real world” — often finding joy and comfort in his own creative play and special interests. These interests are deeply meaningful to him and play an important role in helping him regulate, learn, and connect with others. He loves his iPad, watching his favourite shows, drawing on his “drawing iPad,” reading books, and spending time outdoors swimming or visiting the park.
