Job description:
We are looking for a shadow teacher to help our son at school who is high functioning autistic and adhd in mainstream school.
We would like to find someone Monday to Thursday 9 to 5 and Friday half day.
The job would be going to school with our son then bring him home.
- [ ] Help to focus (engage interests, motivational tools and reward charts- extrinsic to intrinsic, reward effort )
- [ ] Sensory needs (movement breaks, access to fidgets)
- [ ] Promote positive self esteem and scaffold towards increased independence
- [ ] Promote self awareness, self advocacy, asking for help
- [ ] Patient, calm, adaptable, resilient
- [ ] Good communicator
- [ ] Inclusive - promotes differences, whole class approach so not singled out
- [ ] Implement behaviour management strategies used by class teachers
- [ ] Support in group contexts and social skills
- [ ] Playground support - social and sensory, communication. An active appreciation of the important role breaktimes play in the social and emotional development of children
- [ ] Help with consistency, routines, transitions (timers, now next)
- help with reading and homework
