Nanny
Hello nannies!
We have a 6 year old girl who has Downs Syndrome and a 4 year old neurotypical boy. Both are at the same mainstream primary school in the Pitshanger area of Ealing, West London. We currently live in W5 and are moving to W13 to be closer to school, however driving license will be essential (loan of a car can be discussed if you don’t have your own).
Looking for a Mon-Fri full time live out nanny to support 2 full time professional working parents. Exact hours can be discussed and may vary on different nights of the week, but core hours 2-7pm Mon-Fri during term time and 9am-6pm during school holidays. The after-school period is the most critical for us, but ideally you would also be able to help with the school run at least some mornings during the week. More hours can be offered depending on what tasks you are willing to take on around the house, such as kids’ laundry, prepping / cooking simple meals, keeping kids’ areas tidy, small errands etc., (but N.B. no extensive cleaning required unless you particularly want to, as we can have a separate cleaner).
Exact start date can also be discussed, the sooner the better but early January at the latest. If you are starting in Jan we would want to meet in person in December so you can get to know the kids a bit and confirm we are a good mutual fit for each other. Our daughter in particular needs stability and consistency, so it’s important we find someone committed to nannying as a profession and looking to stay with a family for a long term role.
Essential requirements: Non-smoker, driving license, enhanced DBS check. SEN experience is useful but all children are different, and what we find most important is a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Our daughter is verbal and very motivated to communicate, she uses some Makaton at home and school. We can support with training on this during your employment if needed, as well as the learning profile of children with DS and what approaches you can use to support positive behaviour.
Our daughter loves singing, dancing, music and is very keen to do more swimming. (For reference, she goes to a mainstream ballet class on Saturdays and the Brentford Penguins DS football club on Sundays. You would not be expected to work weekends, but if you would like additional hours, we could offer occasional weekend hours e.g. when one of us is travelling for work.) Our son also loves playing football, toy cars, trains and building things. Neither do any after school clubs at the moment, they only attend the on-site after school wraparound care, so this is something we would like to explore more in the new year. Perhaps Beavers, swimming, Stagecoach, other clubs. Sometimes these types of places will only allow our daughter to participate if we provide 1:1 support.
Own car preferred so that you could drive them around to these clubs when needed, however loan of a car could be discussed as long as you have a driving license.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss more about the role. Looking forward to hearing from you!
