Dear Au Pair,
We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our home and into our family in the new year. We are the Wilson family and we live in New Canaan, Connecticut. We are a family of 6, my name is Ruth, my husband is Howard and we have four beautiful children. Ethan is the oldest at 14 years old, then Courtney at 12 years old and then our twin 7-year-olds are Charlotte and Jamie. All of our children are enthusiastic, sporty, hard-working and have loving compassionate personalities.
We are looking for an au pair who will be a good role model to our children and someone who can cope with living in a busy household. Ethan and Courtney are both rather independent now and trust them to do their own thing so your time will mostly be dedicated to Charlotte and Jamie. We’ll need your help before and after school with the twins, getting them up, fed and ready to go. Then we’ll also need you to collect them at the end of school, take them to their evening activities, help them with their homework and then occasionally make dinner for them.
Howard and I both work in New York City so some evenings we might be back quite late. We will give you as much advanced warning of these occasions as we possibly can. We might ask you to watch the kids on a Saturday night so that Howard and I can have a date night but this won’t be very often and we will give you plenty of notice of these dates too.
We have family all over the US and in Europe too so we like to make the most of our free time by travelling and visiting family and friends. You will be more than welcome to come with us on these trips so that we can all relax together as a family. We also understand that there may be stuff you want to see on your own so you can join us as much or as little as you want, we won’t be offended if you choose not to come on a trip with us.
Our ideal au pair is someone who will care for our children as if they were her own. We’d love an au pair who is an experienced driver, enjoys cooking and can be creative with our kids. We are a very laid back family and we want you to feel comfortable coming to us with any concerns you may have.
