Nanny
We are looking for a live-in nanny who has a love and interest in children and their development. Our eldest son is six and our younger son is four. Due to the age of the children a good level of English is essential. We have worked with live-in nannies for the last five years and have had a great experience.
During school term time your working hours would be for a split day from 7:45am to 9am and from 3:15pm to 7:15pm, Monday to Friday with an evening of babysitting one weekday per week. You would be welcome to explore your own interests during the day whilst the boys are at school. During school holidays your working hours would be 7:45am to 7:15pm, Monday to Friday with an evening of babysitting one weekday per week.
Our eldest son is going into Year 2 in September and we plan for him to sit the 7+ exams in January. Part of your role will be to provide active and engaging support to help with homework and smooth over any gaps that may have arisen during the pandemic and home school period. If there is a further period where home schooling is required, we would look to you to work full time with the boys and help them to complete the resources provided by the school.
During term time, we would hand over to you at 7:45am to get the boys out of the house and over to school. You would then need to collect the boys at 3:15pm. The boys typically eat at about 5pm and go to bed by 7pm.
Over the school holidays, the role would be to look after the boys full time from 7:45am to 7:15pm and plan activities that everyone will enjoy. We are members of a local gym which has a swimming pool, tennis courts and runs a number of kids’ clubs through the holidays. The boys also have a good group of friends who they enjoy seeing for play dates, and there is a large network of nannies and au pairs in the area.
You would be responsible for all of the usual duties for children of this age which would include providing well balanced meals and household tasks relating to the children such as cleaning their dishes and doing their laundry. We have a separate cleaner but would expect that you will contribute to the day to day household activities in the same way as we do such as loading/ unloading the dishwasher etc. We leave the house tidy each morning and would hope that we would return to the house in a similar condition. We would also love for you to enjoy outdoor, energetic play as we are close to a number of beautiful parks and the boys have fun charging around.
Our home is recently refurbished with a large open plan living area. Your bedroom is a large double bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, sofa, coffee table, television and Wi-Fi access and shared bathroom with the children.
We live in Herne Hill in South East London and the area is a lovely, leafy, family orientated community situated within Zone 2 for the London transport system. There are several large parks (with lido, boating lake, playgrounds etc.) so the area feels like a hidden oasis in the exciting metropolis of London. Dulwich village is a short walk away and has a famous art gallery, independent shops and restaurants and a country village feel. The area is also very close to buzzing Brixton with its award winning indoor market, a cinema, restaurants and night life.
We are a short walk from Herne Hill station (trains to Victoria take 10 minutes) and a similar walk to North Dulwich station (where the trains run into London Bridge and take 15 minutes). The closest underground station is Brixton (Victoria Line) about a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride.
We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and who can commit to staying for at least a year to maintain some consistency for the boys. We would also be open to the role being longer term.
