The Galway Family, Annapolis, MD.
It’s a pleasure to ‘meet you’ and thank you for taking the time to read our host family essay. We are the Galway family and we live in Annapolis in Maryland. We LOVE Annapolis, it’s such a great area with lots going on. We are a few hours from beautiful beaches, mountains, great cities such as Philadelphia, Washington D.C and Baltimore and New York city is only a 4 hour journey from here.
Let me tell you a bit about our family. My husband Nick and I have been married for 12 years now and we have 3 gorgeous children who we completely adore. Sally is 4 years old and our cheeky twins, Susie and Scott have just turned 2. Sally is a wonderful older sister, she is always looking out for the twins, giving them kisses and cuddles whenever she can. She’s an intuitive, active and compassionate little girl with a real love for dancing. Susie and Scott are the sweetest! They are always giggling, running around and exploring wherever they can. Nick and I both work full time, we leave the house around 7am and are usually home by 5:30/6pm. Sally is at Kindergarten 5 days a week and needs collecting at 2:30pm during the week and the twins will be at home with you. My mom lives 10 minutes away so if you need any help with the twins or need to go to college she is on hand to step in.
At weekends we like to get out and make the most of this wonderful area and all it has to offer. We like going to the Aquarium or to museums. We would love for you to join us on these trips and any family outings we have but we also understand there will be things you want to see by yourself or with friends so there’s no pressure, it’s totally up to you if you want to join us or not. The same goes for family vacations, you will always be welcome to join us but if you want to use that time to explore and visit somewhere else with your friends then we are perfectly happy with that.
Our ideal au pair is simply someone who will look after and love our children as if they were her own. Our children’s safety and well being is our number one priority so we want an au pair who is responsible, mature and who has experience looking after several children at one time. You will be driving the kids around on a regular basis so it is important to us that you are a confident driver and are happy to drive with 3 excitable children in the car! In return, we will do our very best to make you feel at home in our family and we can’t wait to learn more about your and your culture.

Please note due to the current COVID Crisis, you will not be able to go there till the end of the year or the start of 2021.
