{"id":2515,"date":"2019-08-28T11:14:50","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T11:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nannyjob.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2515"},"modified":"2019-08-28T11:14:50","modified_gmt":"2019-08-28T11:14:50","slug":"ssp-statutory-sick-pay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nannyjob.co.uk\/blog\/ssp-statutory-sick-pay\/","title":{"rendered":"SSP Statutory Sick Pay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All nannies are entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), as long as they earn over the lower earnings limit of \u00a3118 a week and give you the correct notice.<\/p>\n<p>SSP is paid to nannies on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> consecutive working day off and the first 3 working days are classed as waiting days and any salary for these 3 days are paid at employers discretion, unless they have something specific in the contract regarding paid sickness.<\/p>\n<p>If a nanny has more than one job then she is entitled to SSP from each employer should she qualify.<\/p>\n<p>Nanny must provide a Doctor\u2019s fit note if she is off sick for more than 7 days in a row, for first 7 days they can self-certify.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>How much is SSP<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For this tax year, 2019\/20 SSP it is \u00a394.25 per week. Nanny can get SSP up to 28 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>As of the start of the 2014\/15 tax year the Government abolished any compensation on SSP for small employers and this is now a cost to the employer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Nannies do not qualify<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If they have already had 28 weeks of SSP paid.<\/p>\n<p>Have already taken 3 or more years \u2018linked periods of sickness \u2013 where 4 or more days of sickness happen within 8 weeks of each other.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving other statutory payments (SMP for example).<\/p>\n<p>Nanny may be able to apply for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) if she is not entitled to SSP with you or has had 28 weeks of SSP.
