The parent should have at least one meeting with the nanny to discuss redundancy and if there are any alternative roles \u2013 part-time nanny\/housekeeper or going from live-in nanny to live-out. A 4-week trial period at the alternative role must be offered. A nanny can tell the parent that the job is not suitable within these 4-weeks, and this will not affect the nanny\u2019s right to statutory redundancy.<\/p>\n<p>If a nanny unreasonably turns down a suitable alternative to the current job, they may lose the right to statutory redundancy.<\/p>\n<p>If redundancy is the only option, a parent must give the correct notice period and pay:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Age<\/u>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>Redundancy payment due<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18 to 21\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Half a week\u2019s salary or \u00a3254.00 whichever is lower<\/p>\n<p>22 to 40\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 One week\u2019s salary or \u00a3508.00 whichever is lower<\/p>\n<p>41 and above\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 One and half week\u2019s salary or \u00a3762.00 whichever is lower<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Length of employment<\/u>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>Length of notice<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Between 1 month and 2 years\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 at least 1 week<\/p>\n<p>Between 2 and 12 years\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01 weeks\u2019 notice for each year<\/p>\n<p>Over 12 years\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a012 weeks\u2019 notice<\/p>\n<p>A parent can, of course, give a nanny more notice than above, but not any less.
