It will help to get them over any fear of the unknown.

Super hero’s wear capes! Not all children like wearing the cape, but this little reminder can help to overcome that particular obstacle. If not, pack an extra top or a towel to help cover clothes.

Work to your child’s schedule. Don’t book a hair cut during their regular nap time! Choose a time that’s otherwise unoccupied/unstructured.

Choose a child-friendly hairdresser! Someone with the right attitude can make all the difference.

Pack a distraction. Children don’t like to wait and become bored quickly. Bring along their favourite book, toy or snack.

Try avoiding the use of the word ‘cut’ which can be a little scary for young children. Try something less intimidating like ‘style’ or ‘trim’.

Allow your child to sit on your knee if they don’t want to sit alone. A little reassurance can go a long way.

Relax! If you’re stressing out, your child will pick up on how you’re feeling and it’ll affect them too!
