We love our jobs, working with children is exceptionally rewarding, but if we\u2019re not careful, we can suffer from stress, burnout and exhaustion.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve put together some top tips to help keep you healthy and in tip-top shape to ensure that you and your charges receive the best care!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stay Active <\/strong>\u2013 One of the beauties of working with children is that you can tailor workouts to suit everyone. Take a walk together, go for a bike ride, or try dancing \u2013 any of these can help to keep you moving which will boost your mental and emotional wellbeing as well as your physical health. If you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nannyjob.co.uk\/blog\/login?ReturnUrl=%2fblog%2f%3fp%3d1742&amp;p=1742\">get your charges involved<\/a>, that\u2019s a bigger bonus!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take Regular Breaks <\/strong>\u2013 We all need breaks. Time to step away and allow our minds to clear so that we can refocus and feel refreshed. Even a 5-minute break will suffice. Try giving your charges a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nannyjob.co.uk\/blog\/login?ReturnUrl=%2fblog%2f%3fp%3d2226&amp;p=2226\">quiet-time activity<\/a> so that you can break for a drink of water.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Socialise <\/strong>\u2013 Socialisation is important. It\u2019s easy to settle into a pattern where you spend all of your time with your charges and lack adult conversation. Make time to socialise with your friends and family when you\u2019re not working.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What causes you stress<\/strong>? \u2013 Identify what causes you stress. Once you\u2019ve done this you\u2019ll be able to give yourself coping methods or work on preventing these triggers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cMe Time\u201d is important \u2013 <\/strong>What are your hobbies? Is there something new you\u2019ve been meaning to try? Is there a film you\u2019ve been desperate to see? Scheduling time for yourself, to do the things you love is crucial to a happy, healthy lifestyle. Remember that it\u2019s ok to do something that\u2019s just for you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Think positive<\/strong> \u2013 We all have days where you feel as though everything has gone wrong, and maybe you shouldn\u2019t have bothered getting out of bed in the morning. On these days, more than most, it\u2019s important to think of the positives. Try to pinpoint at least one positive thing that\u2019s happened in your day \u2013 there will be something, no matter how small.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reducing stress and taking care of yourself will help you to be a better childcarer.
